Why we're getting behind Tom Lancashire for London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local runner, Tom Lancashire as he attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Tom was born in Bolton and at just 25 years of age he has already represented Great Britain at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in the 1500m. He was also the British 1500m Champion in 2008.

‘I'm really grateful to Williams Bolton and BMW for their support,’ said Tom. ‘It's tough trying to qualify for an Olympic team place and it's a big help knowing that they are behind me, helping to raise funds and awareness. It's also fantastic having a brand new BMW 1 Series from now until the end of the Games. There's a lot of travelling to heats, competitions and promotional events so it's great being able to arrive there in style.’
